9:55 Acid

This is a poem about experiencing a powerful hallucinogenic. The result was transformative. The approach was not the wisest, which was to be alone in an attic apartment with no guide or experience. The poem was written with a #2 pencil on a white Formica kitchen table. I’ll read you the poem, and the words are below.

9:55 Acid

I’ve got acid in my soul,
It seared out both good and bad.
I’ve been to Hell and a million years beyond,
I’ll never be afraid, except for That.

That is an eternity of free thinking,
But not coming back to any reference.
Don’t talk of God. I’ve lain in bed
with His mind.  Your sins are forgiven.

And as for Hell, if I could give you one minute,
You’d burn your Bibles and love your brothers.
I’ve walked alone and looked from a cross,
And I saw Heaven, but it’s not worth Hell.
